About Our Homes
Standard Log Sizes
are 6" - 16" in diameter, 6' - 12' in length.
All of the logs have been harvested from forests surrounding the
Yellowstone National Park or from British Columbia where they
have been dry standing since about 1986.
Yellowstone crafts using three different species of wood: Engelman
Spruce, Lodgepole Pine and Douglas Fir.
All of the logs are graded and stamped.
The logs are turned on a lathe and then the cope is milled after
the log is turned.
The logs fit together using a Swedish cope and a generous amount
of Log Builder between each log. Log Builder is a rubber acrylic
adhesive sealant. Then Log Fasteners are screwed into the logs
to secure them in place.
The joints between the logs on the outside of the house are caulked
or chinking is applied.
Yellowstone uses the same log crafters on every home.
The outside of every house is sealed with WOODguard.
Yellowstone builds every log home to custom fit its new owner.
